Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Director Khaled Mahmud Sujan has expressed his surprise at the exclusion of experienced batsman Mahmudullah Riyad from the national team’s Asia Cup squad.
Sujan, who is also the chairman of the BCB’s cricket operations committee, said he would meet with head coach Chandika Hathurusingha to discuss the matter.
“I don’t know why Mahmudullah Riyad is not in the team,” Sujan said. “I will sit with the coach and ask him why he is not being kept in the team.”
Mahmudullah, who has played 200 ODIs and 75 T20Is for Bangladesh, was dropped from the team for the Asia Cup after a poor run of form. He had scored just 108 runs in his last 10 ODI innings.
However, Sujan believes that Mahmudullah still has a lot to offer to the Bangladesh team.
“Mahmudullah is a very experienced player and he has a lot of knowledge about the game,” Sujan said. “I think he can still be a valuable asset to the team.”
The Bangladesh team has struggled in the Asia Cup, losing their first three matches. They are now facing an uphill battle to qualify for the final.
Sujan’s decision to question Mahmudullah’s exclusion from the squad is a sign that the BCB is not happy with the team’s performance in the Asia Cup. It remains to be seen whether Mahmudullah will be recalled to the team for the upcoming matches.
The decision to exclude Mahmudullah from the Asia Cup squad has been met with mixed reactions from fans and experts. Some believe that the decision was justified, while others believe that Mahmudullah should have been given another chance.
Only time will tell whether Mahmudullah will be recalled to the Bangladesh team in the future. However, Sujan’s decision to question his exclusion from the Asia Cup squad is a sign that the BCB is not happy with the team’s performance and is willing to make changes.
